SIA 2010

We went out to the SIA show in Denver to check out all the new gear for next season and take a few pictures to pass around. The show itself was wild, with companies trying to one up each other with their booth designs as well as the extravagance of their after show parties. There are two slideshows on the new gear that you can check out and share, one features touring gear and the other is all about the powder.

Touring Slideshow
One of the trends that has continued to grow is the rise in sidecountry and backcountry touring gear. With more skiers than ever searching out untracked snow from resort boundaries or longer tours into the backcountry the ski industry has continued to develop and refine new products for this market segment. One of the more interesting products for '10/'11 is the Marker Tour binding which aims to fit between Marker's current Duke touring binding and the lightweight champion Dynafit bindings. Powder Slideshow
When it comes to skiing powder the offerings did not disappoint. It seemed like just about every ski wider than 100mm had some iteration of rocker in its design with more and more companies realizing just how great a rockered ski can perform in all sorts of conditions. One of the more notable new skis in this category is the Prophet 115 from Line which blends the all mountain performance of their Prophet 90 with the powder abilities of the Prophet 130 in a 115mm wide ski with tip rocker.
